Soupergirl Takes Flight

by Sara Polon

October 19, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC–Soupergirl, the plant-based soup and gazpacho company based in Washington, DC, is bursting into new supermarkets with souper strength. In the 4th quarter alone, Soupergirl has inked deals to sell its radically delicious soups in Harris Teeter, MOM’s Organic Markets, and Kroger supermarkets throughout the Mid-Atlantic. (Soupergirl recently won a national competition to be part of Kroger’s “Go Fresh & Local” program, to launch their soups on Kroger’s shelves nationwide.)

In addition, Soupergirl is announcing a new partnership with PLNT Burger, the plant-based burger restaurant helmed by celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn. Starting October 24th, Soupergirl’s Creamy Tomato Basil Soup will be paired with PLNT’s unique Grilled Cheese Sandwich and exclusively sold at all PLNT restaurants. A classic combo, offered for a limited time only!

Soupergirl CEO and co-founder Sara Polon does have superhuman strengths. But even she could use a helping hand with all this retail growth. And so she announces today that she’s brought on entrepreneur and healthy-foods pioneer Heather Stouffer as Soupergirl’s new Chief Operating Officer. Stouffer joins Soupergirl from Mom Made Foods, where she served as founder and CEO since 2006.

“Heather is an organic-food visionary with deep experience managing and growing companies. She shares Soupergirl’s mission to change the world, one healthy bowl of soup at a time, and we can’t wait to work with her as Soupergirl expands around the nation,” Soupergirl CEO Polon said.

Stouffer added: “Soupergirl is poised to dominate the fresh soup category. This unique, values-focused brand is positioned to be the breakout leader in the category and beyond. I’m thrilled to join this female-led powerhouse team as we enter a new phase of growth.”

Stouffer has been awarded Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery award, Washington Business Journal’s Woman Who Means Business and Top 40 Under 40 awards, and many other industry honors.
